The Carrbridge House

My family owned a house in Carrbridge until a few years ago. One room in the house had for some reason been untouched and retained the original decor. Known as the front room I have vivid memories of having to sleep in the room when the house was full and all the bedrooms were taken. A spooky experience for a child.

The room was where all the card and board games were kept as well as the piano and other musical instruments. The room represented probably the last example of original decor in the village.

There is evidence that the rear part of the house is built on the original village inn. Fragments of pottery and coins were found some time ago when the floor was lifted. As children we were lulled to sleep by the stories of a murderer being hanged on the Grantown road and buried in the back garden.
