| The bridge was built between 1717 and 1719 by Brigadier General Sir Alexander Grant for people attending Duthil Church and for the easier access of funeral parties to the Church. The mason John Nicolson from Pluscarden was instructed to build it for " ane reasonable Breadth and Height as will receive the Water when in the greatest speat " which he did for £100. It had parapets until the great flood of 1829 when the parapets were washed away. |
